This activity of duels that happened during Canadian history is a perfect example of how the knowledge of past events affects our future and vice versa. The majority of people today will look at how judges allowed murder to be pardoned if it happened during a duel and the fact that violence was the answer for all kinds of disputes as a very inhuman and unreasonable way to live life. In evaluating historical events such as those similar to duels, we’re able to make the judgements going forward. There are many lessons to be learned and that can be applied to todays life from the history of duels. As ridiculous as it sounds, to solve problems by violence, it still happens to today and the discussions of topics similar to these bring this issue to light and educates people on the subject and how to apply these lessons to our everyday lives.
