This first reading log contributes to the topic of how and why we do history. Just as mentioned in lecture, how “history is always subject to change [and therefore is] open to revision”, this is emphasized in the first chapter of Canadian History: Pre-Confederation by John Douglas Belshaw (Light Sept.6/16). Belshaw articulates how history is constantly changing through new discoveries and written work. He also speaks of how historical writing can be viewed different based on perspective. Just as in life, how different people have different perspectives based on their own individual experiences, and therefore interpret actualities differently.
