In the previous week we saw how the Second World War influenced the ideas of childhood and increased the importance of education. In this weeks readings, the influence of war into the practice of educational methods is well articulated. I found it very interesting how the crisis of the Second World War introduced flash cards into schooling and increased the practice of arithmetic. I was also quite disappointed with how the war influenced what the students were learning and how they spent their time doing fundraisers for the war rather than learning knowledge they could not find anywhere else than in school.
