This weeks reading logs emphasizes the importance of looking at history from multiple perspectives. By solely looking at a small range of documents you might have been able to come to the conclusion that wives during the fur trade simply “nagged their wives”. Whereas this statement is rather inaccurate and the wives were essential in allowing the fur trade to be successful. Just like we did in our document analysis, when doing historical research we must look very closely at each document and also look at a range of documents in order to fully understand all perspectives of a historical event.
